TODAY’S GEM
Okay. I’m stressed.
The Portrait for Meaning launch is coming up, the New Year Celebration is next weekend, and I still have portrait projects to finish—like the redraw of my Elementary Demons.
Long story short, I’m overwhelmed.
And I wanted to share this with you because we all have moments where what we need to do feels bigger than what we think we can handle.
So this afternoon, I could feel myself reaching my limit. My mind was racing, my to-do list felt endless, and I knew if I kept pushing, I’d just burn out.
So I stopped everything. I opened my sketchbook and did what I love most: I drew.
But this time, with no plan. No project prep. No expectations.
And it felt so good. It brought me back to that feeling—when drawings are just drawings.
You know? When it’s just for fun. Not a piece of art you want to sell. Not a portrait designed to move people.
Just you, a pencil, some paper, and a fun moment where you let your lines dance.
And here’s what came out of it.
I’m sharing a step-by-step in photos—let me know in the comments or by email if you’d like me to make a video on the drawing process!
Voilà, that’s all for today.
Bisou,
Léa

Thank you for the step by step portrait gem. I love how she came out and I spent part of my Saturday drawing her, but with some changes. I drew her to fit a description of a saucy book character that I had recently read about. I have emailed you the result, (I couldn't figure out how to share it here. )
Thx for the challenge. It's always good to get out of the comfort zone, any beginner would avoid this angle, is scary, 😂 but the difficult part of drawing is…drawing.
