TODAY’S GEM
In my culture, the holiday season is all about family celebrations. It’s a hectic period filled with gatherings—and yes, way too much food!
The downside? Finding time to make art feels almost impossible. I always end up completely disconnected from my portraits during this end-of-year period, making it feel so intimidating to start again.
But over the years, I’ve discovered a great trick: daily quick studies.
Quick studies are short drawing sessions (mine are usually 10-30 minutes). I love them because they keep me connected to my art without the pressure of big projects. They’re like small creative breaks—little gifts to yourself during busy times.
Also, I’m excited to share a new addition to the Léa’s Portrait Gems!
At the end of each PG, I’ll highlight my most engaged demons—those who reply to these emails or leave comments—and occasionally feature student work.
