TODAY’S GEM
The past few weeks, I tore my studio apart.
It had been a year since the last big change, and the truth is: my needs have evolved. And this time, it’s not about looking good.
It’s about working better.
1- Artist needs evolve
When I first designed this space, I built it around who I was at the time: a small artist drawing graphite portraits and juggling content. My setup reflected that — a desk for emails and editing, and a big table for filming drawings.
But my practice has changed.
I became a teacher, recording online classes.
I started creating oil paintings.
I grew bigger as a business owner.
And suddenly, the studio that once fit me perfectly started to hold me back. So, I spent two weeks repainting walls, moving furniture, and rethinking the entire layout. And today, I’m finally ready to show you around.
Let’s step inside for a 2025 studio update.
The space is now built around three clear zones:
2- The computer & storage space
This is my little cocoon. It’s where I attend online meetings, plan launches, and store all my canvases and sketchbooks. I wanted it to feel clean, focused, and quiet—somewhere my brain can switch to strategy mode and get things done.
🎨 Since the space is small and I wanted to keep the floor clear for creating, I decided to use the upper wall space for storage.
3- The big table
For the past few months, I’ve kept my drawing table right in front of the window — and it’s not moving anytime soon. After years of trial and error (and way too many broken tripods), I finally found a setup that works for filming my work. This is where I record most of my drawing process and educational videos. Sometimes, the best way to optimize is simply to leave what works alone.
🎨 In a small, multifunctional space, rolling carts and drawers are the best allies!
4- The biggest update
Now this is the real upgrade: a new zone!
I carved out a full corner of the studio for a triple-purpose setup: oil painting, photo shoots, and facecam recording. No more moving furniture every time I need to record a video or shoot reference photos. It’s all ready to go. This corner used to be the most painful part of my workflow… Now, it’s finally smooth.
5 – An artist sanctuary always evolves
As a perfectionist, I always want to optimize everything. But I’m learning that artist studios aren’t meant to be perfect. They’re meant to evolve.
This space is where I create everything—my portraits, my content, my ideas. It’s my lab, my playground, my HQ.
And I’m really happy you stepped in with me today.
That’s all for me.
Bisou,
Léa.
