1/ Introduction.
I gained 80k followers in 2 months across my two Instagram accounts.
Let's break it down:
65,413 on @regardnoir_
14,893 on @thegrowthartist_
That's an average of 1,300 new followers every day!
But the amazing results from the last 60 days didn't just happen. They came from a well-planned strategy and applying 3 key principles that I'm about to share.
Ready? Hold on tight...
In the edition #42 of the Art Missive, I'll share these 3 main principles that helped me gain 80k followers in just 2 months.
2/ Always Move Forward - Consistency
Give me a moment to explain real consistency.
You've probably heard many times on Instagram "be consistent." But what does that really mean?
Growth on Instagram is like a cycle. Look at my follower evolution on @regardnoir_ from October 2022 to October 2023:
Some months I gained 10,000 to 30,000 followers.
Other times, I gained only 1,800 followers over several months.
There were days I even lost followers.
The common factor all these times? Consistency.
Even when I felt discouraged losing followers and thought of quitting, I stayed consistent. I re-evaluated my content strategy, continued to post, and gave even more energy because I knew the value of being consistent.
Consistency means drawing, posting, and maintaining effort not just for weeks, but for months.
Instagram doesn't like when people start posting and then stop suddenly if they don't see immediate results. So, it's important to keep showing up, especially during the slow periods. Remember, growth on Instagram is cyclical.
Therefore the 65,000 people who have subscribed to regardnoir in the last 2 months are the result of consistent posting over the last 4 months or more.
3/ Repeat what works - Analyze.
The second key principle is about analyzing and sticking to a concept.
Posting the same content even when it doesn't work is not being consistent; it's being stubborn.
It's great to try out different formats and concepts, but at some point you have to choose a concept that people like and focus on it.
People love concepts, and they follow content creators because they like a particular concept and want to see more. They'll recognize you for it and look forward to your posts.
For me, it took time to find a concept that truly reflected me and my artworks. But once I found it, I kept reproducing it and improving it.
Now, this concept has reached 1.6 million unique people in 2 months from just 20 Reels. And my carousels have reached 1.4 million unique people, always repeating and optimizing a concept.
You need to find the sweet spot between what you love to do, what works, and what the audience likes, and then “go all in”.
4/ Intentional art - have fun.
The last principle, which helps with consistency and finding and repeating a concept, is to have fun.
Art is a long journey : it's a marathon, not a sprint.
If you draw just for Instagram, I can assure you, it won't last long. Also, people will feel it in your artwork, and it would affect your growth.
Becoming a better artist by improving your skills and enjoying the process is vital both for your mental health but also your account growth.
My best growth phases were when I genuinely enjoyed my art and was not just drawing for Instagram.
5/ Conclusion.
You might already be familiar with these three major principles. Perhaps you've even applied them without seeing the results you were hoping for.
That's completely understandable.
Because, in truth, these three principles are only a piece of the puzzle.
To truly and sustainably grow on Instagram, you need more than just principles; you need a strategic plan and solid account branding.
That's precisely what Okto, Ruby, Yaine, and Vi did. What was the outcome? Each of them gained between 18k and 30k followers in just a few months.

That's all for me. See you next Monday!
